Why are many people so shallow?

I always here people talking about women's bodies like objects. People ask "which is better? Skinny, curvy, thick, thin, big breasts, small breasts, etc, etc etc. Then people reply "skinny is best. or curvy is best. or this is better etc." its just as bad to promote only curvy and voluptuous as best as it is to promote skinny as best. Don't befriend and create relationships with people based on their body shape or appearance. that is stupid, materialistic and pointless. Love others out of a genuine concern for them regardless of shape, size or background.
