Our puppy is 4 months old and very well behaved when we are at home but sometimes when we go out he goes nuts digging the garden up etc Would another puppy as company stop him doing this or would it just mean two puppies digging up the garden?

You'll most probably have two puppies digging the garden up.

What you might want to think about doing is having a designated area of digging - try a kiddie pool (that your pup can get into with no problems) with dirt or sand in it, bury a few treats in the dirt/sand, and encourage your pup to dig there and there only. Any other holes your pup does dig, fill it with his poo, they hate that.

Also, if you don't have a Kong/s get one, they're fantastic at keeping puppies occupied, and the Kong company have specific puppy Kongs that are more softer rubber than the normal Kong, so its great for teething puppies to chew on.

two puppies digging in the garden......
you would have to train the new puppy as if you didnt even have the first.
Take care of the first dogs behavior, and if you dont have time for it, I would NEVER suggest getting another dog you dont have time for!

I think you should wait until your puppy is older and more well-behaved. the new puppy might learn from it and start digging up the garden.

you would be better of training one first without getting another one. once that one is trained, then think about getting another puppy.

the good thing about having a trained dog before you get another puppy, is that they tend to help you teach the new pup. My mums dog toilet trained my dog. she would also snap at him whenever he barked when he wasnt supposed to, so he learned that as well. the thing about this though, is that the first dog has to be well behaved, or it will teach bad things to the new pup.

I was asking myself, as well as my friends, the same question . And all my friends swear that they'll be a better dog if they have company. So, my answer is yes. I still haven't decided what breed but I definitely made the decision to get her a sibling. I was also told that they do better all around....they're happier dogs. Good luck!
