I think the persecution of the Masons stopped about 50 years ago when the Shriners opened that free hospital.
I don't think many people are all that interested in secret societies any longer, and the Masons were having a hard time recruiting while they were under suspicion of treason, so the numbers are not looking good. However, I don't think that arises from any ongoing persecution.

I don't persecute them they do many wonderful things and God bless you all for the Shriner's hospital. I don't particularly agree with the rituals you do in your temple but it is your right to do them. I have been to and through one of your temples and I have studied as much as I could about Masons but am not allowed to participate in the rites you perform etc. because Masons don't allow females to go there, I wasn't interested in the women's group you have on the side and still wonder about some of the things that you do in secret. Mason's tend to help their own mostly but do some for those on the outside of Masonry.

because masons are now the people that the pentecostal and southern baptist preachers have decided as a group are evil Last year it ws catholics, and before them it was Mormons and Jehovah's Witnesses amd Anglicans. Every once in a while those bigots get together and decide who is going to be the next victim for them to turn their flocks against so they won't realize just what the preachers are doing. If they keep the focus elsewhere, its not on the real evil, the preachers themselves!

I have personal knowledge and have dealt with them on a personal basis. I don't persecute them. I disagree with them and in turn have found their reactions to be anything but good.

The philosophy of Masonry puts it at odds with the Catholic faith, and with all the Christian denominations.
And while Masons do good philanthropic and charitable work, that doesn't change what they stand for.
Sorry.

If Fundamentalist Christians couldn't persecute a group they know absolutely nothing about, then Christian Fundamentalism wouldn't exist.
Basically, many groups such as Masons, homosexuals, liberals, Jews, and atheists all somehow fit into their view of the end of the world. They essentially make everyone else scapegoats.

Most who persecute do so because it does not agree with their own beliefs (even if they have personal knowledge of it).
