My skin reacts to every bandaid I've tried (and I've tried all the kinds at the pharmacy and grocery store). It gets red and inflamed and sore...much worse than the cuts I use them to cover. The same applies for medical tapes. Does anyone have any ideas for how I can keep a wound moist and clean with a different covering? No covering at all causes the ointment to wear off and/or gets things stuck in it...not very sanitary. New skin works sometimes, but isnt' always workable. Thanks!

Take a sterile 4x4 gauze sponge (available at most pharmacies) and unfold it. Take a 2x2 gauze (or another 4x4 and fold it) and place it over the wound. Tie the first 4x4 around it to hold it in place. Should keep the wound pretty clean and will be less irritating than adhesives to your skin.

Don't use a gauze pad! The gauze will stick to the wound. Wal-mart and most pharmacy stores sell a bandage called Kerlex. It will not stick to the wound. You can put some neosporin on the wound, then the Kerlex, and wrap it up!! with this method you will have NO problems at all! Warning though-no gauze! it will stick and you will have to peel it off of your wound! OUCH!

A good idea with the benadryl cream. I would try it with a small pad, even if you cut it out from a bandaid and then use the paper tape wrapped once around and stuck to itself. the paper tape is the least irritating.

A piece of aloe vera, from the plant and then cover this with an ace wrap.Use the inside of the plant and cut of the sharp sides.

Good luck and enjoy yourself.

I also react to the adhesive in tape. What I found is that if I buy benedryl cream (diphenhydramine) and rub it on my skin, I don't break out from the tape. It's worth a try!

I would try a gauze pad held on with an Ace bandage.
