The only two birthday celebrations spoken of in the Bible were held by persons who did not worship Jehovah. (Genesis 40:20-22; Mark 6:21, 22, 24-27) The early Christians did not celebrate birthdays. The custom of celebrating birthdays comes from ancient false religions. True Christians give gifts and have good times together at other times during the year.
Blood is sacred to the true God Jehovah, that is why he tells us in (Acts15:28)to abstain from Blood that is not only to be eating Blood, for example: If a Doctor told you to abstain from any alcohol, would you then, decide that it is ok, to inject it?Imean think about how do the doctors feed someone when they cannot eat oraly? It is by a tube that goes into a vein, so by injecting blood into your veins is no different to eating the blood. And it is not true in all cases that blood saves all lives, in fact, I know of people who have died from it, yet those lives that are lost by having transfusions are never mentioned. And blood transfusions are wrong because only Jesus blood can claim to save lives, and therefore by having a transfusion of blood a person shows a lack of faith in Jesus sacrifice!it is God's will that none of us should have a blood transfusion, otherwise he would not have told us not to eat blood or even to abstain from blood! So yes blood transfusions are wrong in God's eyes. more check out http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HNAQhb3ZIpc&feature=PlayList&p=54714EBF23EFA251&index=1

We do not know when Jesus was really born. If God wanted us to celebrate his birthdate, we would. As he is the greatest man who ever lived and we are not to celebrate his birthday, why would you celebrate the birthday of any lesser person?
Respecting the flag is not a problem, but pledging allegiance to a piece of cloth when it can do nothing and be nothing and is deserving of nothing seems somewhat absurd. Better to pledge allegiance to God and know that you are loyal to the one person who is all powerful, all loving and responsible for every good thing.
The Bible says to abstain from blood. For years, this did not make sense but now, more than ever, it is understood to be a protection from God. Many diseases are harbored in blood and can be transmitted to others by transfusing. The human body treats even clean blood as a foreign substance and actually fights to expell it. If the person receiving the blood is already weak, this could make them worse.

Some religions take certain things from the bible very literally. For them celebrating birthdays is wrong b/c nobody celebrates one in the bible. Paying respect to the flag is wrong b/c it is like a false god and/or the famous "you can't serve two masters" argument basically saying its either God you serve or nothing (not even country). And, blood transfusions are wrong b/c something having to do with Jesus' blood and you can't take the blood of another (I don't know this one is a little more complicated). The point is - taking the bible literally is just wrong - in my respectful opinion. So, if you are ever celebrating your b-day and the anthem comes on and you stand to sing it but fall and bust your head open - make sure you get that transfusion. ;-)

Celebrating birthdays is a pagan belief. The only mention of birthdays in the Bible, involved the deaths of 2 individuals and Jesus didnt celebrate birthdays.
The flag is respected, but no placing the hand on the heart and reciting the national anthem or such. Honor and worship belongs to God, not any nation
The Bible says to abstain from blood Act 15:29
Its funny, everyone is giving you THEIR own thoughts, not the Bibles and as usual, there are many who hate Jehovah's Witnesses. Have you ever heard the saying, the truth hurts.......
THIS IS SO FUNNY!! WE ARE A CULT?! since when do cults go door to door to spread the kingdom news.
PEOPLE HAVE SO MANY IDEAS ABOUT WITNESSES AND MOST OF THEM COME FROM PEOPLE WHO HAVE NEVER BEEN TO A KINGDOM HALL OR EVEN LISTENED TO A BAPTIZED WITNESS. (disgruntled forme witnesses dont count, they are usually always negative)
SO, FOR EVERYONE ELSE, DONT SPEAK ON SOMETHING YOU HAVE NO IDEA ABOUT. THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!!!

Your friend is right. The Bible speaks of celebrating only the memorial of Jesus Christ's death (Lu 22:19; 1Co 11:24). He never spoke of celebrating his birth; it was not a custom of the Jews. Only two birthday celebrations are spoken of in the Bible and in both death (a sin to God) occured.
Yes, your suppose to respect the governmental authorities, but your allegiance belongs to God not men on Earth (Ro 13:1-6). Jesus set that example for us when the people tried to make him king and he fled because he knew his Kingdom was not an Earthly one of men but a Heavenly one of spirit (John 6:15).
Also see (John 18:36) Jesus answered: “My kingdom is no part of this world. If my kingdom were part of this world, my attendants would have fought that I should not be delivered up to the Jews. But, as it is, my kingdom is not from this source.”
The Bible tells us to abstain from blood (Ac 15:19, 20, 28, 29). It doesn't go into details of what form, but doing research of that era you'll find that warriors drank their victims blood. Drinking blood was believed to give youth and life (to take that souls energy). This would go against what the Bible says in Genesis 9:5,6 that the blood belongs to God who gave it to us. Therefore, applying that principle to our standards today's leads us to conclude that blood transfusion would be against Gods will. Beside, we should have faith in Gods power of salvation. He will help us in any situation; even if that would mean death in this life, because we have His promise of eternal life in the next one (Revelation 21:3,4).
I hope this information with some of the scriptures to back it up helps you to understand what your friend is telling you. There are many more verses in the Bible that support the ones sited; ask your friend to show, I'm sure they'll be more than happy to help you.
As long as what is being told to you can be found in God's Word the Bible, you can be sure it's the Truth.

Ask your friend what is the will of God and see if your friend understand it in the 1st place.
From what I know, there is nothing wrong to celebrate birthday. The bible has birthday celebration. Look at the birth of Christ. God sanction it.
Paying respect to the flag. God sanction it. In the bible, it call us to respect the government over us. Blood transfusion. Now there is life in the blood. And blood in the OT is used for redemption, covering and were a no-no to eat. Today I believe that as long as it is safe and you want to donate blood, go ahead.

Jehovah's Witnesses HAVE NO TROUBLE "respecting" the Flag! They will not swear ALLEGIANCE to it! THERE IS A BIG DIFFERENCE! Look up the word allegiance and you will see. Respecting the flag is of course, just common sense as the Nations Symbol, but giving ones ALLEGIANCE TO IT is different.
The Bible says that the "life" is in the Blood, and that Blood is sacred. It also says that you should not eat the Blood, and by putting it into your body falsely (not growing your own), or taking Non-Blood Expander's (almost as good as blood), then you are contaminating your "soul" or life. This is dishonoring the word of God by not "listening" to his requirements.
The only 2 birthdays in the Bible, 1 person died at each one. The first, the Baker died with being hanged and then in the New Testament, Salome asked for Jesus' cousin, John the Baptists HEAD as a reward for dancing suggestively for father and his guests. His head was cut off and given to her on a platter. She gave it to her mother. Six months later, Christ died.
So, we see here that apparently (in the Word of God at least, BIRTHDAYS JUST WEREN'T VERY IMPORTANT WERE THEY? Plus, the Bible says, "better is the day of your death, than of your birth." Meaning not that to die is GOOD, of course its not, but that by the time you die, you've gotten TO KNOW God and will have made him a friend. Where at birth you know nothing. Only pagans celebrated "birth" days.

No, celebrating the life God gave you is a good thing, Paying respect to a flag is neither here nor there and blood transfusions save lives, the bible tells you not to drink blood but transfusing it to save a life is a good thing in fact doing whatever it takes to save a life is a good thing. Your friend is mislead and sounds like a Jehovah's witness which is a cult. Read the book Kindom of the Cult's by Dr. Walter Martin.

The N.T. says ( I can't remember chapter and verse, maybe someone else can) that one person esteems a day to be better than another and does that to glorify God while another person deems each day to be the same. It says we should not judge either person.
JWs do not pay respect to the flag. According to their beliefs, the world would be a better place with no gov't whatsoever. The Bible says to obey the gov't and showing respect for a flag shows you love your country and there is nothing un-biblical about that.
If it is possible to save a live, even your own, thru blood transfusion or any other means, I believe God wants you to do it.

How is any of that against the will of God, I am VERY interested in knowing what her arguments and back-up by Scriptures is for these ones. I am a Christian, I celebrate my birthday. I pay respect to the flag of our country, not necessarily to the flag... AND blood transfusions?????? How is helping a neighbr or friend, against God's will. I don't understand...and that is very unusual for me...
