By the way Exxon and Mobil are the same companies. Any who, I don't buy gas from any of the companies you mentioned. I go to BP (formerly known as Ammoco)

Exxon and Mobil make their own gas. Race Track bids for gas and gets the cheapest one on the market. So you get what you pay for. In San Antonio, Texas, a couple of years back, there was an incidence of people getting bad gas. All the times that I have read of people complaining of bad gas where at the off brand gas stations. Never a major brand like Exxon or Mobil.

Race Track,

By law the gasoline sold has to meet minimum qualifications. So when you buy gas, at any station it is just as high a quality as at any of the big stations. The incident mentioned above was a case of letting WATER to get in the gas tank. This can happen at any gas station. It is why gas station tanks have to be replaced every ten years.

Also the higher grade gasolines are a myth. Unless you have a high performance car that states in the owners manual you need to use a higher grade of gas then the lower grade will be all that you need.

exxon/mobile are actually 1 company. I agree with the other post. In my area Quick Trip is a good choice, but the off brands tend to be a bit riskier.
stick with the big ones. may be few cents more but bad gas can be expensive to fix e.g.; fuel filters, injectors
