do i need to file for taxes in the US?
ok last april-june i wouked full time and made roughly 3-4k

after that i started college and have been a fullt time student.

now the problem i have is wether or not to file my taxes and how will that affect my FAFSA renewal form. currently i have filled it out with my fathers info with me as a dependant but if i files taxes then i will no longer be a dependant right?

my current sisuation is i live with my father, i have no job yet, and i am a full time student.

go to the financial aide departement at hte school u go to...they will have someone on staff that can answer these questions for u

about filing taxes.. If u make under a certain amount (about $6000 or so... the IRS website and forms will tell u the amount) u do not need to file.. IF u want the taxes u paid in back, u have to file.. The fafsa goes by last years income tax (2006) ..if u are dep.. it goes by household (urs too) income.. Unless u are 23, married or have a child, u have to file as dependent student ..

If you made more than your minimum deductions, you have to file. If you didn't, don't worry about it. I doubt you do. No filing taxes does not mean you are not a dependent. (I was 16 and I had to file) If you are 21 or under, a full time student, and live with your parents, you are a dependent.
