How can I make black leather sofas look less manly?

I am moving soon and am trying to decorate my family room..problem is moneys tight so i have to use the existing black leather set (which is a blessing with kids...) i dont know where to start i dont want it to look to manly.. or too dark the floors are medium wood color and directly behind it (its an open space) is the black granite counter top from the kitchen like a little breakfast area i m totally clueless about window treatment and all... please help i am open to any suggestions...thanx

pillows in a coordinating theme...If you can sew choose fabrics you like and look up online for help in making cheap throw pillows. If not try a Pier One or Cost Plus and grab a bunch of elegant throw pillows. These will look great with the leather, give your room style without making it either manly or girly. work with a designer to give you help with the windows. You may choose an elegant velvet side panel and functional sheers to cover the window or go with just a casual top valance treatment. You're looking to break up the solid black and the pillows accomplish that. Simple block cubes make for good "tables" and can be painted coordinating colors...also good for kids. A casual throw rug (large enough to sit under the couches not just between them) ties the room together and can bring a splash of color.

Lots of colorful throw pillows and on the counter top behind it put various sized candles in same color as pillows and maybe a vase of colorful silk flowers and greenery! Window treatments can be made cheaply with bed sheets- either some you have & don't use or go to dollar store and get some cheap ones-depending on size of windows! Also- you could cover sofa in a bed sheet but it will slip off to much w/ the leather so forget that part!! Unless you staple gun it down under the frame!!?? Depends on how badly you want to change it!!For the window trtment/sheets you open the wide hem and slide a curtain rod through it and Voila! a window treatment- you can tie them back with pretty ribbons or some belts that you don't wear any more or whatever you have around that can be tied! Option 1) get a faux sable throw, take your clothes off and pose nude. That won't be manly, but would appeal to men everywhere.
Option 2) Chenille throws and accessories will take your black leather from a statement to a neutral. Fill the space with plants, good ambient and task lighting, and plenty of color. Black goes with everything so you could do pastels or primaries, you could do hues or tints, perhaps the biggest thing is overcoming the perceived obstacle and getting to narrowing your choices, because they are endless.

Definetly TAN or a cream color. Very smooth curtains with a matching sheer. Tan curtains really set off a black leather sofa.

I would get some cushions with a tropical theme or maybe Morroccan looking ones. Frilly cushions on a black lounge would look weird. A Morroccan throw over the back could look good too. Or you could decorate with some sari material. You could get cushions to match your curtains in pretty colours.
