3500 cal in a pound and you should drink more than 3 bottles of water a day. you should be drinking half your body weight (in ounces) of water a day. (like if you weigh 200 lbs you should be drinking 100oz of water a day) I know it's alot but it works sooo well because it flushes out the fat when you pee and it will hydrate your skin so you will see a difference in your appearance too. And your diet sounds just like mine!!
*bowl of special k in morining
*stawberry banana smoothie for lunch
*carrot juice in the afternoon with an apple
*meat cooked in olive oil with steamed veggies for dinner (I don't like salad with out ranch dressing and ranch has too many calories)
I have lost about 30 pounds so far and have 80 more to go!!! I am planning on reaching my goal by July 1st.
I am eating 1300 cal a day and burning 1400 through excersize.
I do pilates for 45 minutes in the morning.
Then weight lift arms 20 min, legs 20 min. (alternate days)
120 situps a day (on ab ball)
use eliptical for one hour (you burn more than double the calories of the treadmill!! you should get one of these!!!!)
and kickbox for 40 minutes (this burns almost 600 cal! you can get a dvd, thats what I do)

plus I stretch, alot of pple forget but it burns 70 sum cal. for 15 minutes of stretching and it makes it easier to work out the next day when you aren't so sore. I think you could lose the weight by september definately! That's losing 4.5 pounds a week, which I think is very reasonable. Just do the math for yourself.

Tak {(daily caloric needs - your food intake per day} to find out how many calories you are saving a day by not eating as much.
Then 3500 - that number. To find out how many cal. you need to burn a day to lose 1 pound a day. for example:

lets say you weigh 250lbs and are 5'5" and want to lose one pound ever two days:
{2736 (your dcn) times 2}- {1300 (your cal you eat a day) times 2} 2600. so it's :5472-2600=2872
3500 (one pound in cal)-2872 = 628 so you would have to burn 628 cal a day from physical activity to lose1 pound every two days.
but remember the lower your weight gets the more cal you will have to burn a day to maintain that goal of 1 pound every two days! good luck!!

I found the book to be very informative and easy to read.

I've lost 17 pounds in 12 days, I'm just concerned that I'm losing too much weight, too quickly. I will admit I haven't followed the guide exactly. I'm not sticking perfectly to the listed foods and meal plans (but mostly) and doing very little exercise, but the weight keeps flying off.

It clearly works and if I'd followed it exactly I think it would scare the living daylights out of me because of the amount that I'd lose. So thanks again for the information. I've never purchased anything like this before because they are usually full of trash, but 3WD has been a pleasant surprise.

Firstly, yes there are 3,500 calories in a pound of body fat.

Second, it will take over a year to accomplish this goal in any healthy way. Don't let that disuade you. It takes time, but you'll see results by June 4th (major if you really stick to it) and even more by Sep. 2.

By summer next year you'll be ready for the beach if you can continue to work through these begining stages and plow through it.

Every day that your not putting effort towards your goal, is another day you won't be able to enjoy the body you're trying to sculpt.

There are 3,500 calories in a pound. Sucks, don't it?

Yea, loosing that much weight will take atleast a year.

However, if you're like me, you don't want to wait that long. :P Don't feel like calculating for ya, but now that you know how many calories are in a pound, just go add up the calories from the stuff you're going to eat and figure it out. :)

But for me, on my first attempt to loose weight, I worked out for only about an hour and a half. Wasen't happening fast enough. And after watching a few seasons of the weightloss show called Biggest Loser, I realised it takes A LOT of time and exercise if you want to loose as rapidly as they did.

I'm planning on excersing for about 6 hours a day, 7 days a week. Lets see if things pick up then. Hehehe. ;P

Here are a couple of sites that are great. They have tons of support and features. Get yourself a diet buddy and join both of these sites. The slim-fast diet site is a really good one for getting started and the sparkpeople is great once you get in the swing of things. They both have diet trackers, exercise trackers, meal planners, shopping lists, etc. AND they're both free. Good luck.

Rate of metabolism is how fast your body burns fat.
Twenty minutes of aerobic exercise per day raises your rate of metabolism 80% !!!
This is fantastic and it is also the truth !

Bottom line to loosing weight is burn more calories than you take in. BOTTOM LINE !
