To plagiarize red eye:

A) Jesus Camp
B) laws passed from the bible
C) you cant hold office if you dont believe in god in many states

And, we never get any reasonable rational answers when Christians oppose same-sex marriage and abortion, are forteaching creationism in the schools along with abstainace only education. We never get reasonable answers about anything, just "the bible says so" or "I just have faith" or "I know because it is the word of God". BS! Provide even just a minimal amount of evidence that the bible is the word of God. I am not saying prove it beyond a shadow of a doubt, just give a little evidence (besides a quote from the bible - that proves nothing. I could write a book and write "this is the word of God", and you can't disprove that God talked to me!)

I don't believe in the bible, so I don't accept the fact that decisions are made for me based upon what people think the bible tellls them is correct. Telling me my girlfriend/wife can't have an abortion simply because you believe that at the moment of conception the embryo has a soul is retarded. It does not have a soul. Maybe your embryo has a soul, but atheist embryos don't have a soul so therefore the "soul argument" is not a valid reason for preventing someone for terminating a pregnancy.

There is no reason two dudes can't get married other than a Bible that I don't believe in says that gay people should be stoned to death.

Certain Christians promote the spread of STDs and unwanted pregnancies because they can't accept abstainance only education is *FAILING*. US communities that promote abstainace only have the highest teen pregnancy/STD rate (Lubbock, TX).

These are not intellectual policies rooted in reason or rationalism, they are religious doctines that people are trying to push into law in some places. I want to be governed with a free market of ideas, science, and rational philosophy - not DOGMA.

See you all in hell!

that is because most atheists are of a mindset that wants to disprove anyone who believes in something else which is the case for many other things, and by asking questions some atheists believe they can find a question without an answer and disprove the person who they think is foolish enough to believe in such a thing. im atheist but i dont really oppose any religion, but i am fascinated with the history surrounding pretty much any religion and the rules, i am an atheist in the sense that i do not practice a certain religion though i do respect people who do. fighting over religion or not having one is just ridiculous to me, people will always think differently from one another. but in general atheists want to disprove them, most of them dont want to know, they just want to find out what you dont know

I think what is happening here is that numerous Christians seem to be posting questions to atheists, and the atheists are answering the questions.

If you were to post questions to mathematicians, you would probably get a lot of mathematicians answering. This does not mean that mathematicians are obsessed with your question, just that you asked and they answered.

We come looking for answers sometimes. Your religion would be pleasant if it was true, but we always get things that just push us further away.

Sometimes we are not asking a question so much as pointing out an obvious flaw in question format. Its the non-answers we get to those questions that push us away the most.

Well, the beliefs of christians are force fed to us on a daily basis. They try to pass laws to force their view on us, and try convert us constantly. So, the best way to answer that is by knowing everything you can about their beliefs. Knowledge is power. This is the reason that the average atheist knows more about the bible than the average christians.

because the boy scouts of america, an organization atheist americans are paying their taxes for, will not admit atheists and homosexuals. because in our pledge of allegiance i am forced to recite every day, i must say "under god". because the very currency i use says "in god we trust". because our founding fathers were freethinkers, and yet this nation has a majority of christians. is that enough? how about because in some places, no one can open stores on a sunday?

Because most of us were raised Christian. We don't even know what Muslims and Jews believe really... so we don't know how to ask good "clever" questions.

Also, no Muslim, Jew or Hindu has ever tried to convert me or condemmned me for my own beliefs. They keep quiet here in the States...

Christians and Mormons and whatever are always bugging me downtown when I'm minding my own business. you want us to listen but you ignore any scientific evidence that makes the bible look bad, and insist that you are factually right about god when it has never been measurably prov en that god even exists in the first place. I'll believe when he can show himself to everyone in the world, until then god is unmeasurable and irrelevant to me. but if Christianity makes you happy and brings you peace to your life, i say why stop believing, this country is sup post to give us all the ability to chose our own faith, i put my faith in scientific knowledge

Maybe because the Christians keep trying to force their religion on everyone else? You think that might be it? Just a thought.

I am not obsessed with what Christians believe, I know what they believe. What I am curious about is why.
