I haven't heard of some of these, but an independent witness is someone who witnessed a crime and does not have any connection to the suspect(s) or victim(s). For example a man and wife get into a fist fight, the children would not be independent witnesses because they are related to them. But someone who was just walking by and does not know the people at all would be an independent witness. Or if I witnessed you commit a robbery I would be an independent witness because I do not know you. Clear enough?

Descriptive words, not judgement words. Accurate description of what happened and not your opinion, feelings, or viewpoint. The way we are supposed to see the world and don't.
