So my friend told me that if I dropped a Chevy 350 small block engine in my Nissan 240 (granted with a lot of altering and stuff to make it fit and work right) it would make my car super fast and all that good stuff. What do you think? Or any other suggestions for engines? Thanks

it's prolly too much of a hassle to be worth it, but yes that small and light of a car would run pretty good with a 350 in it. the 350 for it's size has good torgue and is easily modified to run alot better.

Look at the weight of that 3000GT. And front wheel drive sucks. all wheel drive VR better even more weight.
Nissan question it is possable to install a V-8 in a 240sx. You have to expect about 6 months of fitting removing refitting making a new instrument cluster. About 2 to 3 weeks just to modify the original cars wiring.
I own a 2006 Pontiac GTO 6 speed with 6.0 liter V-8. Factory warranty very fast. And everything works.
Hot rods like you are thinking about some end up garage projects that never end so don't start unless you really want to spend lots of money and see the project to the end. Then you will find out the rear axle cannot take more than 200 hp.

Knowing what you really want is the first thing you need to find out. I have seen 350's put in 84-89 300zx's but not in a 240. You would have to make some great alterations either way. You would have to upgrade the brakes to stop that monster for starters. Then you would have to install a better rear diff, one that could put up with the tourque you are going to be putting in that light of a car. And you may also have to modify the hood, bulkhead, and fenders too. Don't forget to install some stiffer springs or you are going to waste that suspension real quik.

First off, for the amount of time & effort (not to mention the $ involved) & sweat & blood & you know, you will get results but will it be worth it to you? I acted on a similar whim years ago with a 429 & a 76 comet. It ran low 11's but in the end I ended up twisting the frame on the third run. My suggestion: Restore the 240 back to original, stick a 4-sale sign on it & when you get $4000-$4500 run with the same idea with an early 80's Malibu (preferably a 2 door. It will smoke any wannabe import that sounds like it's got a motor under the hood instead of the singer sewing machine that's there. Good luck.

Why would you put an engine that requires extensive "redesign" of the compartment?

There is the JDM SR20DET that you can basically just drop in the car with minor hassle. The engine itself has TONS of aftermarket support. You could also go for the USDM KA24DE motor and slap turbochargers on it and still make plenty of power for you speed needs.

The 350 is great if you can make it fit. There are probably more performance for that engine than any other engine. It would be a cool novelty. The only other thing that would be cooler than that would be an LS1 engine.

Caprice is a B body, you need A or G body mounts, like for a malibu or monte carlo with a 350 or 305.

If I were you I would rather put in a Nissan 3.0 motor (from the Nissan 300ZX or Nissan Maxima) and soup it up or I would also put in a Nissan Skyline motor and you could get alot of power without increasing alot of weight.

I have done it and yes it was fast, might run into overheating problems...depends on how much money you want to spend.
