He turned 3 in September and he still puts anything and everything in his mouth. If it doesn't fit in his mouth, he will stand there and lick it. He also licks around his mouth if he doesn't have anything in his hands. I've tried taking things off of him, but he does it with EVERYTHING!

I don't have kids, so I can't speak from experience, but my first thought upon reading your question is that your son might have some type of developmental delay, or cognitive issue. I'm absolutely NOT making fun of him, and I certainly hope I'm wrong about him having developmental problems. However, it just doesn't strike me as "normal" for a 3-year-old to do the things you said your son is doing, especially to such an extreme.

I'm sure other folks will have better answers than mine, but anyway, there's my 2 cents worth. I would suggest having him thoroughly evaluated by his pediatrician, or perhaps getting a referral to a neurologist or child psychiatrist. Good luck!! :)

good luck! My 17 month previous also places each and everything that you'll imagine in his mouth. I only proceed to augment that the article is "icky" and eliminate it from his mouth. i have requested him any such number of cases "what's in" his mouth, and now he will open his mouth and tutor me his tongue. I nonetheless capture my 4 3 hundred and sixty 5 days previous putting issues in her mouth. I try explaining to her that there are "buggies" on them, even though it nonetheless hasn't stopped her. only attempt to wipe down as a lot as you could and save the small issues off of the floor so he can't choke if he does positioned them in his mouth.

Its normal, but if you wish him to stop then put something on the toy that he doesnt like but isnt harmful to him, try vicks salve, the odor might prevent him from licking it
