I just want to get the sound out of the DVD, and convert it into MP3 format. Does anybody know of any way or program I could use?

Go to the below website and download the free "Audacity" program, and on the same page, download the "LAME mp3 encoder". Install both.
On the upper right of the Audacity program's page you'll see a down arrow next to the text listed as "line in". Click on the down arrow and change that to "What U Hear". In playing the DVD, also have the Audacity window on your screen, and click on the Record button as the sound from your DVD starts, and click on Stop when it's finished. Then, in the Audacity program, click on "File" on top, and then on "Export as MP3". That'll give you an .mp3 of the sound you recorded. Good luck.
