I have a wonderful Christian friend who is under all sorts of pressure from other Christians who put her down because she will not cut her hair. What is the big deal?

Depends on which Christians you ask - some Pentecosts and some chapters of Baptists will not let a woman cut her hair at all.

Paul wrote in the Bible that if a woman makes herself look attractive to others, that was an abomination as it was something only prostitutes did. He was very well known for his hatred of women, so it comes as no surprise that he would twist around making yourself presentable and hygenic into throwing yourself at someone so they can have their way with you.

Jesus never said that hygiene and grooming was a spiritual issue. It wasn't then, nor is it now. It has nothing at all to do with the outcome of your soul (or whatever your beliefs reside in) so there is no reason whatsoever that religion should dictate what a woman does with her hair.

This one has me stumped. Do Christians make a big deal out of this? Maybe it is because long hair represents something that is too much of a source of pride, one of the seven deadly sins? Or are you expected to be charitable and donate your long hair to "Locks of Love" or whatever that organization is that makes wigs for children who've lost their hair due to chemotherapy? I just never heard that Christians were somehow anti-long hair.

Good question! That's religion! Christians who know the Lord should know that Jesus has set us free from the 'law' of sin and death. It is not the outward appearance of a person that defiles them, but what's on the inside. Jesus don't care how you look or how you wear your hair. It is the heart of a person that matters. "whom the Son has set FREE, is FREE indeed"

I don't know.. I don't have a problem with it. In the bible, it says for women not to have braided hair and for them to have coverings over their head. Some people have misinterpretations of what Christianity really actually stands for.

Because the Bible says' A woman's hair is her glory. Everyone doesn't make a big deal of it. I guess in the Bible times some may have tried to look like men. I don't think it''s the hair or clothes it's the reason why.It also talks about women with women and men with men and condemns it because it is not natural.

I don't know because they sure are not getting it from the Bible

1 Corinthians 11:14 Does not nature itself teach you that if a man wears long hair it is a disgrace for him, (15) but if a woman has long hair, it is her glory? For her hair is given to her for a covering.

She must be associated with a cult or something.

The same reason there are so many denominations. Instead of reading the Word of God and applying it to MY life, I want to apply it to others lives. Instead of seeing the unity in the Body of Christ, we see differences.

We tend to forget that the entire body is not made of identical parts. I could not hear if my ears looked like my eyes. My understanding of Holiness may not fit your understanding, and neither of them may actually meet God's understanding.

We forget that God is looking for every opportunity for all men to go to Heaven, He is not looking for reasons to kick us out. He is inclusive, not exclusive. It is our fault if we go to Hell. He gave us the choice.

All kinds of religions are trying to hang on to what they think God still requires of them. These efforts are acknowledged by God; However, God would rather that we grow up. And people who like to lambaste those who choose to believe in God are the most childish of all.
