No. My artists won't copy someone elses work and draw out their own versions first. They'll draw and redraw until you're both happy with how it looks. They don't charge extra and actually like to have an appointment or two with you before to make sure you like what you're going to get. They only charge by how long it takes to be tattooed. It's usually 100 an hour for tattooing.

my artist charges a deposit before he'll do any sketches, but then that is taken out of the cost of the tattoo.
most artists then put it on a transfer which is then put on your skin. but some freehand entirely (not freehand tattoo - freehand as in, draw it on with marker right on your skin instead of using a transfer).

it depends on the artist. my artist usually does a sketch on paper first and he doesn't charge anything but he doesn't give it to me either. he draws it up and shows it to me and then makes a transfer. but sometimes he freehands the tattoo right onto my skin with a pen and i don't get to see a drawing before. it's up to the individual artist so it'd be best to call them.

No. Tattoo artists draw the picture and then put the paper on your body to trace it.

No, it is their job as the artist to make sure you are happy. They will do anything you ask to the drawing. If you are still unhappy with it have them do it again or go elsewhere until it is exactly what you want.

When I got mine, it was all part of the package. It didn't seem like he charged me more because he drew the picture first than it would have cost if he didn't.
