I don't really remember the whole thing, but, I think Lucifer fell from Grace for Questioning God!?!?
He Questioned the Father's Right to Rule and hence got banished!?!?
There are different versions of this in different Faiths!!!!

lol, God had NEVER hurt anyone at this point in time of history! EVER! God had never recriminated, put anyone "out", cast them out or even had to raise his voice to anyone in Heaven, until Satan rebelled! Therefore, WHY WOULD Satan believe God would DESTROY him? It had never happened BEFORE?
PLUS, and here is where it gets tricky! Satan never challenge God's POWER, he knew he would LOSE. Anyone would! No, he challenged GOD'S RIGHT TO RULE! This means that "why did God why the right to rule either Heaven or Earth, NOT who was more powerful?" This caused 1/3 of the Angels to listen to Satan and his message. After all, they HAD NEVER BEEN EXPOSED to anything else. Did God have it right? What about someone else? SO, GOD COULD NOT JUST KILL SATAN OUTRIGHT! If He did, the Angels (and Humans) could say, "hmm, maybe Satan was right, but we'll never know." Then, for the rest of eternity, everyone would have wondered, "what if. . . "
However, by letting Satan and the evil angels have their "time." And letting mankind have his time to "rule himself," we can see that neither Satan nor man HAS WHAT IT TAKES TO LEAD OR RULE THEMSELVES. INSTEAD OF A PARADISE, THE EARTH IS ON THE BRINK OF CATACLYSMIC WEATHER CHANGE, THE OZONE WHOLE OVER THE ANTARTIC IS AS LARGE AS RUSSIA AND THERE ARE ENOUGH NUCLEAR WEAPONS TO DESTROY THE EARTH MANY TIMES OVER.
So, here soon, enough time will have elapsed that there will be no more reason to let this foolishness go on anymore.

He rebelled against God because he wanted to be above God. Satan said in his heart that he would ascend into heaven and exalt his throne above the stars of God, and that he would be like the most High.
See Isaiah 14:12-23

it was NOT between Genesis 1:1 and Genesis 1:2, the gap theory was a really bad idea and doesnt really fit the story
in Job the Bible said "All the angels of God sang together at the creation" no disgruntled angels... and at the creation God said the finished creation was VERY GOOD and no room for someone VERY BAD...
I think sometime in the first 147 years... as Adam and Even had Set around then... so sometimes before that some angels fell and man fell after being tempted

Well for one thing, he wasn't the first born son of God in heaven, that would be Michael, THE Archangel. That brought out his-Satan's- jealousy.
So, Satan had free will just like everyone else, he knew right from wrong and he chose to become haughty and full of pride and to covet the worship that only belonged to God.
Look at what he's done to the whole human race!!

Yeah, I don't get that, if satan rebelled against God, why doesn't God just smite him or whaterver God does, that way, no one can be tempted and everyone could party it up in heaven. Maybe God uses satan for population control in heaven, when ever heaven starts getting to crowded he goes, "Yo, Luci, I need you to tempt some people while I expand up here, add some condos and what not, I'll take 'em off your hands when I'm done."

Actually there is no satan as we are taught. The actual rebellion was when Adam rebelled in the garden by partaking of the tree which he was told not too. The serpent so many refer to as satan was Adams own thoughts. Your mind can be a serpent to you if you allow all of its thoughts to manipulate you. When the bible speaks of the prince of this world falling to earth it is not of an actual angel who rebelled against God. It is speaking of Adam who was the prince of this world. He fell from his seat of authority in having dominion over the earth and favor with God.

Lucifer (the Devil) is a fallen angel, was the prominent archangel in heaven, prior to having been motivated by pride to rebel against God. When the angel failed, Lucifer was cast out of heaven.

Lucifer was a High angel in the court of God, and he was the one in charge of worship. He got so full of himself about how great he was that he began to believe his own deceit, and gathered some followers in the process. God kicked him out of heaven for causing this rebellion. Lucifer has also acquired many names, such as The father of lies, the angel of light, the devil, the accuser, the deceiver etc., It seems ironic but one of his main names is the prince and the power of the air, meaning that he controls the air waves. (radio, t.v. music, sound etc.)
