If he mentioned it at work and you said something to the effect of...'have a safe trip...' , he may have interpreted that you were concerned for his safety. Or, the girlfriend may have seemed distant and he called you to give her something (someone) to think about. He may be interested in you...as another basic consideration.
If it made you feel uncomfortable, ask him not to telephone you at home again. If he does, contact the human resource official at work and let him/her know that a situation is developing or getting out of hand. Do not confuse work life and social life. If you are interested in dating him, ask human resources what their policy is on co-workers dating. Some employers do not encourage or tolerate co-workers dating or both individuals of a marriage working at the same place.

It may be OK or not...It may be OK if he sees you as a friend and that he thought he would be considerate and call to let you know he made it safe, or ...it might be telling you that he really likes you and would rather be with you than the girlfriend he is visiting. If you are not interested in having an office romance..then you better let him know when he returns how you stand with the feelings if any that you have toward him....Be honest with him, if it bothers you that he called tell him, if it didn;t bother you that he called and you think you have feelings for the guy tell him that as well....life is too short.

Perhaps the female co-worker had a friend that was killed on a plane flight and she was freaking out that your bf was going on a plane and would have a panic attack if he went on a plane. so he told her he would call her when he gets to his destination so she wouldn't freak out. and perhaps your bf was calling her so he would confirm aliens didnt abduct him along the way :S

Sounds like they are friends and not just co-workers. Now if he's on call or something, then yes he'd have to check in.

Not normally, but maybe he was letting her know because of work thing that might need done for for him if he did or didn't make it. Then again they might just be good friends and she was worried about him driving in bad weather. I can't think of any other reason.

It depends on what kind of relationship you have. If you are friendly and hang out outside of work, I don't see why this would be weird. But my advice is, if you are hesitant you might think twice about it. Perhaps an email or text?

Why would you call a co-worker? Shouldn't you call your family or relatives?

Are you close, outside of work? Do you call her during other times?
If not, but you still want to let her know...drop her an email.
