Sure it is. Handle them for a minute ot two each, twice per day..That way you can check them over to see if there are any problems.

I was there when all my dogs puppies were born, I helped clean up, she was so tired! You must be careful, if she does not want you touching them... DO NOT. Most Mommy's enjoy the fact that you are also just as proud as she is. I do not recommend others touching the babies. She might get upset and try to hide them. Key point, if she get's excited to see you, play with her first, then if she is OK with you touching them do so, but keep the time short.

Wait a few days. The mother is probably really protective of the puppies and if you get your scent on them then she may become less connected to them or the puppies may recognize you as their mother. Wait a bit and let the puppies identify their mother and bnd a bit.

Actually handling the puppies will be a big part of their mental development. Handle gently... do not take them away from the nest. Do not OVER handle!! Talk to them as if they were human babies. They need this. One thing to remember.... a newborn pup cannot hold it's own body temperature. Everytime you take one out of the nest he/she loses body temperature REAL fast. Within seconds. So enjoy the pups but return them quickly.

Congrats on the new babies! I touch mine from the time they are born. I pick them up, check on them, make sure they are breathing okay, doing okay. I weigh them, check to see if they are male or female, etc. Mine are handled from the day they are born, not a lot, but enough just to ensure that the pups are healthy.

I don't think that I would just yet. Let her get use to the puppies before you touch them.

It depends on the *****. She may not let you, or she may hide them from you after you have handled them.
I have never had a problem with handling newborn pups, but I have always been there for the births and helped with the whelping.

I would wait a few more days. Some dogs will reject them if you touch them, although it is unlikely. She also might bite you! If I did touch them, I would make sure not to move them yet if I didn't have to.

It really depends on the nature of your *****,
It also depends on whether this is her first litter if so i would recommend not to touch them until there around a week old she may neglect them other wise.
