i am not trying to "bulk-up", just increase lean muscle and aid in recover after long runs.

adding whey protein back to milk basically defeats the purpose of using a fast acting protein. water or juice would be optimum to mix with whey protein fractions.

I would also keep milk intake to a minimum if you are trying to decrease body fat. milk is low on the GI scale but it is high on the insulin index.

after your long runs I would have whey/water or juice and a portion of a low GI carb like lentils or beans.
