Having done this myself, my personal request is that you "please" ignore Father K's answer. It is, in a word, ignorant.
I went through this process as a result of a terrible phobia I had concerning insects. No matter what I did, which included behavioral modification and psychiatric treatment, nothing worked. Then through a stroke of very fortuitous luck, I was given a recommendation to a therapist that did past life regression. To this day, I have never regretted the experience and in fact, advise everyone, no matter if they are suffering from a specific problem like me, to do it.
I discovered the root cause of the phobia. It spanned two different lifetimes with the most dramatic taking place during the second world war in a Nazi death camp. The therapist took care of my phobia 100% over three sessions. 3 sessions! Not years and years of useless psychoanalysis.
I now garden and enjoy spring and summer. Prior to this, the change of seasons was a source of incredible anxiety. Now I am able to watch insects do their work as I garden. Instead of being numbingly terrified, I'm amazed at what they contribute to the life of our environment. In short, past life regression was a godsend to me.
Do it and see what you discover about yourself!

There are many problems with the salvation-by works doctrine of reincarnation. First, there are many practical problems. For example:
1. We must ask, why does one get punished for something he or she cannot remember having done in a previous life?
2. If the purpose of karma is to rid humanity of its selfish desires, then why hasn't there been a noticeable improvement in human nature after all the millennia of reincarnations?
3. If reincarnation and the law of karma are so beneficial on a practical level, then how do advocates of this doctrine explain the immense and ever-worsening social and economic problems - including widespread poverty, starvation, disease, and horrible suffering - in India, where reincarnation has been systematically taught through out its history?
There are also many biblical problems with believing in reincarnation. For example, in 2 Corinthians 5:8 the apostle Paul states, "We are confident, I say, and would prefer to be away from the body and at home with the Lord." At death, the, the Christian immediately goes into the presence of the Lord, not into another body. In keeping with this. Luke 16:19-31 tells us that unbelievers at death go to a place of suffering, not into another body.
Further, Hebrews 9:27 assures us that "man is destined to die once, and after that to face judgment." Each human being LIVES ONCE as a mortal on earth, DIES ONCE, and then FACES JUDGMENT. He does not have a second chance by reincarnating into another body.

How can you totally believe in it if you haven't tried it yet? Aren't you afraid that your precognitive commitment will set up your imagination to create a false experience?
I really don't have an opinion on this except I wonder why most people recall being kings or princesses or some sort of big shot heroes in their past lives. I mean isn't it odd that you don't seem to hear about people being ordinary peasants in their past lives. Strange. Anyhow good luck with that.

Yes I do, but I'm reluctant to do a regression...I have a few memories, but I would rather not dig up things from the past that have no bearing on this life.

Yes, I believe in past life regressions. It probably costs a lot of money, though. If you want to find out who you were in a past life, just pay attention to all the things you like in this life. For example, are you drawn to a certain country? Like China, Ireland, etc.? Do you like Asian food, Italian food? Are you interested in wars, like the Civil War? Do you have certain phobias that you aren't sure where they come from? That could help you figure out your past lives.
There are a lot of books about past lives, too.

I believe it, although I didn't get to experience it yet.
However I was hypnotized to go into past life regression, instead I went into my past in this life and it was a chapter in life that i really didn't want to go back to. She was a professional hypnotist, but not for past life regression, so make SURE you go to one that is specialized in that particuliar area. Someday I'll try it again.
Good luck

a fool and his money are soon parted.
i once saw on that pen and teller show, an episode about ufo abductions, and there was this phony ufo abduction recollection hypnotist who had this small number of clientele for YEARS, obviously because they were crazy, but also because they felt special in that they had an ufo experience. sad. don't waste your money. you just want to go so that you feel special. you want the person to tell you that you were impportant in your past life. that's why everyone who believes in past lives thinks that they were cleopatra or someone famous in their past life.

Do I believe? not sure. Would I undergo the test? No, Why? Being an adult in this day and age is enough to deal with. I do not want any past garbage causing me grief.
