Most of these answers are bunk--they have no idea what
they smell like. I have both fragrances on my dresser. Each
in a carved marble container. Frankincense is very sweet
and exotic. I can only handle it for a short time, I have asthma
and it is very strong. Myrrh smells like some bushes when
they're wet...an earthy fragrance. The don't compare to the
modern day fragrances. These fragrances were given to
Jesus as a gift because these were very rare and expensive
and were given to a king at his birth.

I have used both in ritual. I like myrrh, it has kind of a heavy smell to it. Not much of a frankincense fan, but both were used by the Egyptian high priests.

You probably have smelled them actually. They're usually associated with Christmas.
REALLY great meditation scents. I've always got some around in oil form. They're pretty easy to find (any bath and body shop or any place that sells colognes or incense) if you want to get some.

Frankincense is kinda sweet smelling, with just a hint of a ginger smell. Myrrh is a little harder to explain...

Go to any Catholic Church and have them light some for you. Most ritual incense contains both. Catholic supply houses sell both...in pure form. Myrrh is very pungent....Frankincense is sweeter....the combination is very nice when burned.

They're very earthy, heady, and resin-y. A little spicy, but sweet.
I know, since they're also sacred to Isis, and I use them a lot. Try smelling the incense or oils to see if you like them, and if so, give it a shot!
