It's never going to end as long as we are fighting people who are not afraid to die for their cause. That's why we should start leaving now & let them fight their own war.

The war will end eventually, but we can't know when, and we can't set a date for the troops to return home. If the government starts talking about letting the troops come home, or sets a date to get out of Iraq, the terrorists will sit and wait for us to leave, and then will start attacking Iraqi citizens and probably the US. If we leave before we have won, and Iraqi forces aren't stable enough to keep order, then there will be a lot more trouble, which would probably be brought to the US.

The real war has barely begun.
No matter what happens in Iraq, the Islamist extremists are not going to give up the idea of taking over the world, until they are defeated.
This could take 15 or 20 years, but that's only a guess.

This all depends on the political mood, but I think We will be in Iraq for at least 3 more years before a full withdrawl. It would take something big for us to keep fighting this conflict such as a military incursion with Iran. As I said, politically we (the people) will eventually demand a phased withdrawl.

It's already ended for the hundreds of Americans who died fighting it. It always baffles me that "they will not be forgotten" bit. Well, what about them? They're dead. It doesn't matter to them if they're remembered or not. How about remembering that they're not around because they were fighting an insane war? How about remembering that hard enough to call back all the other guys over there?
