I was going through the security check at PHX airport on Tuesday with my boyfriend, and the Police arrested me for a warrant they said the Grand Jury Indicted me. They took me downstairs at the airport and frisked me, no finger prints or mug shot or booking number, then drove me downtown to "bond" out. Then drove me back to the airport to catch the next flight. My boyfriend said the Police told him that since the new passport law changed on Tuesday, there is a new "super computer" that knows every flight I take and that's how they knew I was there, and they arrested me. I fly internationally every week. It has never happened before and that is an old warrant. I think they got tipped off. Do they have a new system that checks for warrants? If so, when I book a flight online, does that go to a computer that tells them who I am, where I'm going and when?

The point is...they already had pictures of my boyfriend and me, which would have taken longer than 10 minutes to print out and get 6 cops together to wait at the security point for me. I think they knew I was flying out days before they arrested me. I think it's all kind of fishy too. But at least they were nice enough to give me a ride back to the airport. I need a lawyer.

I doubt it was a grand jury indictment. You would've had to be arraigned before a judge.

As far as how they knew, it could've been a snitch, but more than likely, you popped up on the ncic as a hit when they ran your passport. The new national crime database at the airports collects for all sorts of lovely information about travellers these days so they can sort out the baddies...

even the not-so-baddies with old warrants!

Somethings not right here. There was a warrant out for your arrest due to a grand jury indictment, they catch you at the airport only to drive you downtown to "bond" out, take you bake to the airport and allow you to fly away with the chance that you may not come back? Mmm.... that sounds a little fishy to me.

Welcome to the new and improved " Home Land Security " . If you thought that was fishy, wait until 2008. And yes there is a new master computer that runs checks of EVERYONE who purchases a ticket. As far as no finger prints, mug shot, etc., you were probably B.I.A. (bonded in absentia) , and alot of fugitives and/or criminals will find it very hard to fly around the country in cognito. Long Story Short!,,. Your very eye (contacts or not) in some countries can get you busted just by looking up into a camera lense. Alot of people would be amazed at the technology of todays world. Even your voice can get you busted. BIG BAD BROTHER IS WATCHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sounds bogus to me. I can't believe they'd TAKE you back and let you fly off, not after you bonded out. I can't believe you'd go down for a bond on a grand jury indictment without an arraingment by a judge.

You were "snitched off" by someone. There is no way we are miraculously able to search all the mountains of computer traffic to find one person, verify a warrant, etc.
So, my advice would be follow the law in the future, someone doesn't like you much

Sweetie, they may have had you and your boyfriend under 24hr. surveillance. By everything being automated, it's not that hard to find you. If you used your ID ( your real ID) at security checkpoint, then they have that info stored.

In fact today in the US every company has to give the autorities the passengers list. So I guess that's how they knew you were there.
