I had ordered blue roses from a flower shop, and they were the most beautiful roses I have ever seen. Just perfect. I would call the flower shop ahead of time and they will help you with that. It is alot easier. Trust me.

put a lot of blue food dye in a vase of water. I used to do it to carnations. The only problem is the stem will pick up some of the color. However, the petals will soak up the blue water and the food dye is safe enough that it won't kill the roses.

When I was in elementary school, we did a science experiment where we put white flowers in water that had food coloring in it and tracked how it changed colors. I don't remember how long it took to work, so maybe you can do a trial run. Use the food coloring liberally, though, so the petals have more than just a light tint. Good luck with the girl! :o)

The best thing to do is put some food coloring in the vase with water and put the flower in. It should eventually absorb the color. Do a test run with a flower to see how long it takes.
By the way. That sounds absolutely romantic!

If you mean a cut rose, I take a white rose and put it in water that has food coloring in it. As the flower takes up the water it absorbs the color too.

Go to a florist and have them do it. It will be easier and cheaper over all.
