I think that lying is the greatest sin. Not just ordinary lies but being a false teacher and lying to people about God and Jesus and being used to lead them into the snare of the Devil. Lying is on God's top 7 list of sins.

Proverbs 6:16 There are six things that the LORD hates, seven that are an abomination to him: (17) haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, (18) a heart that devises wicked plans, feet that make haste to run to evil, (19) a false witness who breathes out lies, and one who sows discord among brothers.

That is easy. The rejection of Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour is the greatest sin there could possibly be. For this sin you are guaranteed an eternity in hell. No ifs ands ors or buts about it!

I don't believe in sin, thus, I have no scale. Subjective morality & "opinion" judge what is "worse" than something else. In the diversified world in which we live, religious, non-religious, cultures, environments & so on, I feel it would be totally presumptuous to "rate" any absolutes. Yet, I "feel" this isn't the answer you're looking for.

Edit: I just looked at the answers so far, & it's clear that everyone has their own perception of "sin."

The very idea of "sin" itself. All it does is control. It has zero to do with our reality. Cause and effect do. Action and reaction. Sin is a religious concept to oppress followers. It serves nothing.

Ive experienced something called losing your grasp of reality and it was a hellish place to be in.

My experience says that anyone or anything that can contribue to the loss of sanity to the extent that you become addicted to drugs and or counselling and cannot function well in a society, is doing the biggest sin.

For without a mind, good and bad have no meaning

Someone asked Jesus what the greatest commandment was, and he responded that it was to love God and each other. All of the other commandments depend on those two. I suppose that the greatest sin would be to break those two commandments.

The bible tells us that blasphemy is the greatest sin. But for me a close second for me would be lying. I can't stand it when people lie. I guess I'll never become a politician then will I. lol
