If she is seeing someone for emotional issues due to her height and weight that's great they have no idea how things change when we get older. I am sure she will be the center of attention with boys in a few years. Maybe fined some famous people that are a bit on the short side and show her how famous and well liked and successful they are good luck mom

In 6th grade (age 11) I only weighed 53 pounds and I was 4'4. That SEEMS unhealthy but I ate! I ate and ate and ate more than most people I know. I didn't like candy and sweets though. I was in the "gifted and talented" programs and honors later in life. I STILL have baby teeth! Although I was underweight by medical standards I was very healthy. I ended up playing quite a few sports in high school and I was very active in elementary school. I'm now 22 and I weight 102 pounds at 5'5" and I'm still just as healthy! If it helps, I was picked on terribly in school for being the ugly duckling and now their mouths drop when I see them AND I have a great career! (My mousy voice has dropped considerably over the years)

you should have a talk with her becasue she deservees to know these things. why dont you go have a mother daughter shopping day and get her some cute grown up clothes but that are ageg appropriate. may i suggest Limited Too? even though she is small, does she act like a child? have her look a little more grown up like the other kids but not too extreme like make up and high heels, you know what i mean. but when your out with her, talk to her about those things and get her something that will make her feel special like a new necklace from clairs or earings and let her show them off at school. other kids will take more notice of her and think "oh yeah she looks just like one of us" personally i think she is only a little bit shorter but tell her when she gets a little older, she'll grow lots and be taller than everyone else!

I had the same problem growing up now I am 25 years old and measure 5'0 tall I weigh 115 pound. For as long as I can remember kids in school would tease me about my stature and weight but I decided to overcome all that and started playing sports. In the beginning coaches would tell me I didn't have what it took to play any sports. I proved them wrong I became MVP for my school and achieved a scholarship. You have to give her time to grow. Find her a better therapist and she also needs mom right now wait and see she will turn out to be a beautiful young lady just give it time don't over feed her let her eat as much as she want. That's about all the advice I can tell you...

Hi there. i know a kid just like the one you are describing. She is the daughter of a co-worker. The child has had digestive problems since she was born though. Sounds like this is not the case with your child. However, you may want to check out this link on malabsorption syndrome.

Sorry such a long link...maybe you could just google the malabsorption syndrome. Simply put, the body does not absorb the nutrients that are put into it. i am not a doctor, though. This is just a possible avenue to explore. i do hope it helps. Best wishes!

Oh please, your very first question you said you were ten years old, to reply to the question as I did with your ten year old:

WOw. You have your hands full with the 2yo who keeps running away with the five year old, the six year old who hangs out with 11 yo's and now a nine yo and ten yo who are underweight. Being the fifth grade yourself, you must be exhausted.

Be authentic. Stop screwing around. Why mess with people like this? Did you not think people could read your profile? Thanks for the two points though.

it may be an enzyme blocking the naturally produced HGH (human growth hormone) you need to make sure insurance will cover this problem (force the issue) with them. it is an expensive treatment but you should experience very good growth the first year you will notice a difference in months. Good Luck.

your doctor is right.....never feed a kid that isn't hungry this will cause her to have eating problems when she's older......maybe you should seek a concealer for your daughter or a group thing.....find something that she is interested in and let her do that like dance or horses or something.........always be as helpful as you can and give her lots of support that is really the best thing for her

http://apps.nccd.cdc.gov/dnpabmi/Calculator.aspx

This is an online BMI calculator. It says your daughter is underweight and in the 2nd percentile and to see a health care provider.

You doctor said leave her alone, so I'm thinking go and see another doctor.

I, personally would take her to another doctor because 42 pounds is awfully skinny for a 9 yr. old.
