Here's my idea......How about doing something with music...the currect condition of the world is reflected in music or lyrics....you could have a picture of the earth and instead of the equator have music bars with notes going around and music symbols, and incorporate the lyrics of relavant songs. Like John Mayor's song lyrics~ Waiting on the World to Change. There are so many songs to choose from. The poster would be all text with different fonts and lyrics with the globe and music notes in the middle.
