I got news for you ,
Approximately half the people in the world are,of no faith
Many pay lip service on censuses, IE.. in Britain most people put down C of E (Church of England) on the form out of habit, despite only ever attending church for weddings and funerals, and not even having a bible in the house.
In Countries where their is a strong religious tradition, people will 'go with the flow' for a peaceful life. (Try being a Saudi and saying you are an Atheist)
Use your PC and do some real research (not the CIA world book puleeez), those of you smug in the fact that the majority of humans worship some sky Gods are in for a shock.
This is the rough estimate used currently which divides the world 50/ 50 between monolithic and non monolithic ( including Atheists) faiths.
Of those declared as Christian and Islamic, more than 50% are of no faith, and do not practice any religion but believe it part of their cultural identity, (like the C of E Brits).

One can only make a vague educated prediction based on surveying of the world's population. But personally I would say, not soon enough. Hopefully within 5 years. And within 20 religion will be non-existant.

I fear not for many decades, though the inevitable progress of science helps a bit.
We could make it 10 years if we overhauled the education system and decided that teaching our children was more important than anything else.

If you add up all those of religions that are not based upon the belief in a god, it's getting close to 50% now.

There will probably always be religion. Hopefully the new ones will be more compassionate and inclusive than the ones today.
