They probably suspended your driving privileges until you pay the fine. You need to contact the court and either pay the fine or set up a court date for you to appear. But remember some states issue arrest warrants. Call your local police department and if you have a warrant they can help you take care of the matter without being arrested. Some cities will not run a wanted check unless you appear in person at the police department then they will help you as stated above.

If you did not attend your court date, then the Magistrates at the time you failed to appear will have issued a Warrant for your arrest for failing to appear before the Magistrates Court on that date. That will mean if you are ever stopped by the police or so, and they run you through the Police National Computer, there will be a flag against your name requiring your arrest and you will be charged for your original crime and the additional offence of Failing to Appear before your Magistrates Court on an appointed day.

I would call the Magistrates court or go there in person the following morning to explain myself and submit to their will in dealing with it then. They may take a more lenient line with you if you give yourself up to the authorities.

A warrant will be issued usually for an offence such as this it will be backed for bail meaning when a local police warrants officer traces you he will bail you to a specific court date if you dont turn up then an arrest warrant will be issued and you may well find yourself arrested and held until the next court which could be over the weekend if youyre unlucky.Ring the police and ask for warrants department they are usually glad to get this sorted out.
