Most recent Sony Handycams have USB connectors that you connect from your camcorder to your computer that allow them to be used as webcams. You'd have to run the software provided by Sony to set it up and then select the Handycam as your video source in Skype or Yahoo Messenger, for example. Oops, I just looked up the specs on the 30GB Handycams and they don't have USB streaming video, but not all is lost. You can use the standard video connections to your computer providing that your graphics card has them. It's a little more complicated to set up, but you would do that through your graphics utility program. It might be easier just to buy a webcam--they're cheap.

You can do this by setting up the connections and then go to start menu, control panel, printers and other hardware, scanners and Cameras. Then follow instructions use the disk that came with the camera. It should work. Then if you download a program called 'Homewatcher' you can use your camera for a home spy camera. It will take photos of who comes and goes into your domain while you are not home. If you pay then you can get pictures on your cell when your not there. This is really cool.
