When it is sung, it is actually prayer.

No one is telling God what to do. It's a request, ASKING God to bless America, or people or whatever. It's like saying, "May God bless you" just not saying the word "May".

I don't know about blasphemous but it is important to know that we were made to please and serve God. Many people get it backwards and treat God as their servant. Thinking that it is God's job to please man. I think it is wrong to ask God to bless America when we are doing things against his word that cause him to be unable to bless America. How can God bless America with all the sin? When abortion is legal? When homosexuality is supported and promoted? When women run around dressed like men (wearing pants), and when people dress immodestly (exposing the thigh is uncovering your nakedness.) How can God bless America when we have allowed prayer to be taken out of our schools? How can God bless America when America has abandoned Him and his ways?

America needs all the help it can get. To say "God bless America" we are praying that God does just that. We are not telling God what to do. We are asking.

properly i'm no longer an atheist, yet I do have atheist friends. lots of the time i imagine its neither. i do not imagine they truly pick you to burn in hell yet i do not imagine they have a authentic situation for you, both. they're doing what they were advised they're meant to do. they imagine which will supply them brownie factors with God. What they don't realize is that the church is a organization. A money-making organization. for sure they pick to recruit as many donating individuals as a threat. And basic procedures to do it really is to persuade Christians that there'll be dire outcomes in the adventure that they don't help (and that it really is their responsibility, as sturdy Christians, to "keep the heathens from the burning pits of hell"). Its a tremendous sales pitch, yet this is basically what it really is. some human beings do exactly not understand they're contributing to it

Please stop trying to pick a fight.
The phrase "God Bless America" is shorthand for "MAY God Bless America" or even "I hope that God Blesses America" which is more of a prayer of supplication.
Its certainly not blasphemous to ask God to do something.
When you sneeze and someone says "God Bless You" do you force them into a defense of their religious beliefs? Tacky.

No it is a request. I think God knows what we are asking. I think it's a bit late though. God has already blessed America. I pray He continues.

It means we hope God will bless America. But since God is imaginary our hope isn't working.
We ourselves must bless America.

You have a point there. But I don't think that phrase was meant to tell God what to do.
