I know I've had an infection on my leg once that caused mine to swell, however, he's only a little over 1. The only thing that my wife and would like to guess it is is because of his teething and bad colds that are going around our house. Being concerned parents we are going to check with our family doctor, but I just wanted to get some input.

Because less fat covers the lymph nodes in children, they are easier to feel, even when they are not busy filtering germs or making antibodies. Children’s nodes enlarge faster, get bigger in response to an infection and stay swollen longer than an adult's.

The lymph nodes expand or largen when there is sickness/infection in the body. My guess is the same as yours in that there are colds going around your house causing this to happen.
