In order to file your federal taxes {electronically}, you must enter your name, your SSN, and your birthdate. The first four letters of your first and last name AND the year of your birth must match with what the Social Security department has on record for you. If you are entering it correctly and the IRS is rejecting it, you should do two things:
1) print out and mail in your tax forms (just like we used to do before electronic filing)
2) go to your nearest SS office and correct your records. Bring along your SS card, a valid photo I.D., and your birth certificate.
Hope this helps :)

If the names matched, but the birthdays were different, could you have mistakenly put in a different social security number, like for another family member?
Maybe not your exact problem, but one scenario that does occur.

my best advise to you is to call the IRS. I had to call them before for the same reason. When I did call them they had the wrong birthday b/c i actually filled my paperwork wrong on accident. The people that work there hate their jobs ironically. as Long as your nice to them theyll be nice to you. :)

You have to go down to your local IRS office with proper paperwork and get them to fix it.
