I cough this up every few months or so, and I can't figure out what it is. It has a very foul smell and I don't think it's related to the food I eat. It's soft and has a similar texture as toothpaste. It ranges in size from a small ant up to the size of a dime. Thanks for any answer you might have.

I am a teacher and I had a student who did this. I sent her to the school nurse who said it wasn't that unusual. You should probably go to the doctor.

See an EMT (ears nose and throat specialist). The same thing use to happen to my sister and she ended up having thyroid surgery, she had to have nodules removed from around her para-thyroids. Research it . It could be nothing or it could be serious.
