What are the risks and benefits of being a vegetarian who eats milk, eggs, and fish? Which nutrients are removed from this diet (without vitamin supplements) and what other health risks are involved? Does it increase health? How?

I'm not saying that those who eat fish are vegetarians. I'm well aware that they aren't vegetarians. I only used that as an explanation for those who don't know what a pescatarian is.

I also know what a lacto-ovo pescatarian is, so please don't define that for me.

You are describing a diet similar to that eaten by many of the longest-lived cultures in the world, such as the Okinawans and those in the Mediterranean. If you eat a wide variety of different types of fruits & vegetables, legumes, beans, nuts and seeds, plus eggs and dairy products and fish, you will not be missing anything, and in fact, you can eat marvelously well just about anywhere, at home or in restaurants, all over the world.

If you eat milk, eggs, and fish, you risk hardly any nutrient deficiencies. You will have to make a concerted effort to get iron, as the iron is spinach or prunes is not the same quality iron as meat. But if you eat a wide variety of foods, taking full advantage of the food groups you will be eating, I would think no supplement is necessary.

On this diet, you will be able to get everything your body needs. Without a doubt. You can get iron from high quality whole grains, such as quinoa and millet and even whole wheat. Its such a scam that you cant get enough iron if you dont eat red meat.
