Several things can cause this drop. The most common is thermometer/user error. I work in a medical setting and frequently see a person's temperature change by several degrees even when using the same thermometer. The only accurate way of checking a temp is to do it rectally. When a person's rectal temp drops to 95 or below this is technically considered hypothermia and needs addressed. Your mother's actual temp is likely above 94.
Assuming the thermometer is accurate, however, there can be some dangerous stuff to cause it. Serious infections (even life threatening) can present with a low temp instead of a high one.
If she is aching all over it is likely she has the flu. We're just getting into heavy flu season. If so, she needs to see a physician within 48 hours of the onset of symptoms so the treatment will actually be effective. If your mother is old or debilitated the flu can ravish her system and cause serious illness.
Good luck!

low temp so soon after taking a temp can be caused if the patient has had a cold drink just prior to temp being taken or by battery failure. change the batteries and check it again. does she feel warm or cool to touch. That will help guide you. if you are still unsure seek medical help

That happened to my son!! He had a fever for a couple days and the other morning we checked his temp, it was back down to 98 degrees but he still looked sick. So, a couple hours later we checked it and it was 97.2 degrees, worried, we checked it a couple hours later again and it was down to 94.3 degrees, worried, we went to the doctors. Make a long story short, check the batteries in your thermometer before you rush to an emergency room!!!

CALL AN AMBULANCE! A temperature of 94F is not good, even life threatening.
