No, my dogs are not smart enough to realize that the doorbell means someone is at the door. LOL
Mine usually just start barking like crazy.

yes they will bark sometimes at a doorbell on tv. the crazy thing is about that is we have never lived anyplace that had a doorbell, i really can't figure that out with them. if there's a doorbell on tv they will start to bark and run to the door.

Who needs to wait for the door bell? Mine hear a strange car drive in and they're right there by the door to check out who dares to come onto their property. It's a natural instinct.

Yes, that is nothing to be aware about. That means your dogs are wise, they're guard dogs. They're extremely aware of strangers, when they hear noise, they go alert. Nothing strange.
