It is DEFINITELY a matter of taste. I am running the Vista Release Candidate 1 on another PC, but I hardly even use it. Some of the features make sense, like making the default account a USER account, rather than an ADMIN account like in all the Windows before it, but I even disabled that because I am so used to XP by now. The user interface is cute, but that's just pretty pictures and such. There's a sidebar that resembles OS X, and it has Widgets, again, like MAC but I still prefer XP. All of my applications run on it, and I know where everything is by now. Whether Vista is a success or a flop, Windows XP is a great distro of their operating system. Windows 2000 was fair to middlin', and Millenium was a colossal flop. Only the future will tell whether Vista is a success on the same scale as Windows XP, but for now I only use it to experiment with.

From my perspective it includes "new" annoyances. Microsoft has o release a prodcut ever 3-4 years so they included more Video capabilites and a more intensive GUI. But it offers very little since it requires end users to have very decent computers in order to use all the features.
