Most sex offenders have to register where they live with a national sex offenders registry. You can check to see if any sex offenders live near you.
You could protest the known sex offender as I have seen this work in other communities.
Your best protection is to keep a close eye on your children at all times.

The rights of a community vary greatly from state to state, county to county, and even city to city.

There are message boards posted by the police dept that give information regarding the offenders, although some only provide information on the highest level offender.

Some communities have passed ordinances that prohibit offenders from residing within a certain distance from playgrounds, schools, daycare centers, etc. These ordinances are being challenged in some area as being unconstitutional.

Communities can convene and bring about rules and regulations that they feel comfortable with concerning the safety of their people, however, they must be constitutionally fair to the offender. Sad, but, even these people have rights too.

Not easy answers. A lot depends on the state as well as the local ordinances. Some jurisdictions restrict a convicted offenders movement (IE he/she has to stay 1000 or 2000 feet away from school yards, parks, and day care centers etc). Many have toughened residency requirements as to where someone convicted can live. A federal judge out west blocked a proposal to force convicted offenders to carry global positioning system devices. It is well within the rights of any local community to pass such legislation to protect the children.

They can look up the offender on line and know where they live, Carry a can of pepper spray and when felt offended spray them in the eyes. (i really don't know what legally we could do) I think we should have sex offenders locked up longer then what they already served, and I think they should all be sent to a deserted island so they can all offend one another, and leave our children alone.. ( I don't understand how a 30+yr old men or women can get their jollies off on a 4yr old) What the Hell is wrong with our society these days!!!?

If the offense was an 18 year old having sex with a 17 year old then let it be. If it was a 50 year old molesting a 4 year old then I would like to see this person swinging from the nearest light post. There was a guy in the Northeast who was looking up registered sex offenders in his neighborhood, tracking them down and shooting them to death. He was arrested but I thought it was a good idea and given him a medal!

Some of the higher level sex offenders are not allowed to live near schools and such. You can find out if any sex offenders live near you at https://childsafenetwork.org/signup/signup.php?sid=38&hid=203882943&cd=CD300624.

Other than that, nothing.

depending on your state, all known sex offenders have to register on the sex offender list, which is public record in every state, it gives name ,address, etc., you can also contact your local police dept. or sheriffs dept. and ask for known sex offenders in your area, they have all the current listings and updates on the whereabouts of all sexual offenders in the state. Also ,they have to report in as to their current address if they should move, and it will update their information to the different law enforcement agencies

This is one of those juicy ones. Personally I think when we convict a sexual predator we should just shoot them right there. After all we have no desire to try to understand and perhaps fix what is wrong with te brain to make people think this way. We have no desire to do anything but stigmatize and label them so just shoot them. You will be doing a favor

they have the right to be notified when one moves in their neighborhood and also starts at their work places. Also if one moves in so many feet of the school their child attends. I get emails and notices in the mail for all 3.
