Bananas are ok for people with gout.
Gout is not just a disease of fat people as one person replied.
Gout occurs in people who either produce too much uric acid or fail to excrete enough uric acid. Consequently some of the uric acid precipitates and forms crystals in tissue throughout the body. When it forms in the synovial fluid (fluid in the joints), it may precipitate in the joint. The deposits of these crystals cause an inflammatory response leading to the pain, swelling, warmth and redness in the joints especially big toe, ankles and knees.
Certain foods can contribute to the amount of uric acid in the body. These foods are usually purine-rich or protein-rich foods.
Avoid organ meats, certain canned fish (anchovies, sardines), certain other meats (turkey, mutton), certain veggies (mushrooms, cauliflower, spinach), and unfortunately beer.
The American Medical Association recommends a balanced diet for people with gout. This includes a good amount of fruits and veggies (other than those listed above). Bananas are fine for patients with gout.

Gout is a condition where uric acid crystals build up in the body.
This can happen in the area of the big toe and cause a lot of pain.
Our foods contain purines; some foods are higher in this than others.
The doctor may place you on a lower purine diet (of which they will usually provide you a list of foods to avoid. There is also medications that can lower the uric acid in the blood
Here an alternative way to cure gout?

Most of these folks don't know what they are talking about. (Example.) Eating 1/2 cup or Asparagus, cauliflower, spinach, mushrooms. Is wrong, they are things that cause gout attacks. Also Lentils and beans are really not good for Gout. Beware of what people post on Line.,

There shld be no prob if Gout patients want to take banana. However, there are some food that they shld avoid to minimize gout attacks. In order to combat gout, you should seek to follow a healthy diet and avoid high purine food that cause gout. Try to reduce the intake of food that has a high purine content: eggs, duck meat, chicken, spinach, mushrooms, sardines, dried peas, beans and mussels. By avoiding such food, it can lower the level of uric acid in your blood to as much as 15 percent. It is also advisable to control the intake of protein food that are high in purines.
Avoid fried food, hydrogenated vegetable oils, processed food as much as you can. Eating such oily food only help to increase the level of cholesterol levels in your body and may lead to gout. If there is a need to cook vegetables, you should opt to stir fry them instead as this a more healthy alternative.
Wheat forms an important part of our staple diet and refined wheat flour is commonly used to produce cakes, biscuits, pastries and bread. Try to avoid these food that cause gout as they are known to be acid-forming. Hence, gout patients are advised to limit their intake of wheat products.
Minimize the consumption of alcoholic beverages such as beer or lagers. Alcohol has been known to increase the amount of excessive uric acid in the blood. Besides, cut down on the intake of caffeine drinks such as coffee, tea, cocoa and cola drinks. One obvious way to avoid gout is to drink plenty of water throughout the day. An average person should take at least 3.5 litres of water a day in order to stay healthy.
