Oh my goodness. Did you ask this question, just so you would get ignorant answers. It's a painting!!!!!Who knows what the Angel looked like or how many fingers, if any he was holding up.

Gabriel was the existentialist of angels. His existence had
to be perfectly subscribed by the HOLY so He did not fall from
grace. The apostleships of the earth worlds had fallen to the
constant attacks of fanatics like communism, pagans, and idols
without knowledge. Gabriel had enough experience to signify
that the world was seeing the second coming, Christ, Yahweh,
Allah, Hossanna, any blessed leader could reach into this new
firmament to aid the causes of God. This knowledge symbol
is today just as mysterious due to the house of Gabriel being in
the years of the second millenium. Gabriel is a patron of the
Eden embassies. http://www.beliefnet.com

If I remember right, one finger is Apostolic Progression, and the other is the divine right of the Pope. I probably got it wrong somewhere, but the point is that it is Roman Catholic doctrine portrayed in the art therein.

Two fingers represent the two natures of Christ: the divine and the human.

Artists used to show people holding up two fingers to show they were teachers. I don't know why, I saw it on a show.
