I think I got that one time and what I found out was my previous doctor told me that my skin temperature was reacting in that part of my particular skin which caused my skin to itch and when itched pimples (or red dots) appear and continue to spread.
-I used to put ice immediately when it began to itch or cooling off creams such as Bengay, etc.
Or if its not that your skin is reacting from high temperatures, then it must be that you've eaten something thats causing your skin somewhere on your body to react like this: in your case it was your legs, etc.
Or you've touched something like poisonous plant.
Those type of things usually spread quickly and are not treating by just anti-itch creams.
*When I had my poison ivy reaction it spread quickly throughout my body in reddish pimple like forms until I went to my doctor and he gave an anti-biotic cream and some medication pills to stop the reaction. I hope this helps you out. I hate skin problems.

You should probably see a doctor, but it sound like it could be jock itch. Try some athlete's foot spray. It will burn like heck at first, but if that is what it is it will get rid of it after a week or two.

This may sound weird, but maybe you have bedbugs. It is not unheard off, even in this day and age. Do a search and see what you come up with.
