is there college classes or is it something u can do online or at a vocational class. i am looking for a job i can do at home and set my own hours. there are a couple people i know of who do this out of home offices and seem to get several clients.

No formal education is required to do taxes even as a paid tax preparer. If you want to get in on some free education, I would look at some of the larger companies such as Jackson Hewitt, etc. Especially during tax season, they are always looking for temporary help, and you could probably work part time for them if you wish. All of the places will send you to a mini training course on tax preparation. After you get your "feet wet" the first season or two, then look at going out on your own.

It's too late for this tax year, but next year around mid summer check with H&R Block. They have a class that they teach that covers personal as well as business taxes. I took it several years ago. I do taxes for my family and friends. I have been doing taxes since I was 16 for other people (I'm 53 now) and I never took any classes until the H&R Block class. It is a lot of work doing taxes and it is very detailed. You can't make mistakes.

Either a Jackson Hewitt or HR Block tax class does the trick. I took H&R Block's several yrs ago...met 2 nights a wk, for about 9-12 wks [forgot how long]. Good Luck!
