Theists are any of the various strains of religion (theist means they believe in a god or gods).
A Deist is a theist who believes in a god, but believes that the god has no current involvement in human affairs.
Atheist, the giveaway being the prefix A-, means the opposite of theist, so in other words, an atheist doesn't believe in any gods, and thus necessarily has no religion.

To further break it down (the key to words is in the prefix), theists can be further divided into monotheists and polytheists: the former believe in one god and the latter believe in two or more deities. Some would even argue that the denominations of Christianity that adhere to the Trinitarian model (Father, Son, Holy Ghost) are actually polytheists, for example.

Theist - Someone who believes there is a god or several gods. Respectively, monotheist and polytheist.
Atheist - Someone who lacks the belief in a god or gods. (Everyone is an atheist to at least one theistic religion's version of god(s).)
"Typical" atheist - One who lacks the belief in ALL gods.
Deist - A watered down version of a theist.
BTW: One can be an agnostic atheist, gnostic atheist, agnostic theist or gnostic theist.
