Depends on the state you're in, you'd have to check. But there's a reason most (if not all) state require parental consent to be married under 18, IT'S A STUPID THING TO DO!!! Marriage is a HUGE committment, and 17 year olds just don't understand that level of committment. You're not financially independent, you're not emotionally prepared for support a family, and you shouldn't be, you're still a child. Your "job" at this phase in your life is to finish growing up, get your education, and prepare for adulthood. Trust me, you'll have PLENTY of time to be an adult, don't rush it.
Sorry, I'm a parent of a 17 year old. She's no more ready for marriage than my 12 year old son is.

kind of young to be considering that? have you guys been going out a while.. or have you thought of just having a long engagement and getting married a little later.. marriage will make you alot of new responsibilities including being off of your parents luxurys such as insurance and whatnot. I'm 20 and still think I need some time before I actually go through and get married. Not that I don't think I want to spend my life with her, just think it would take some of the pressure off waiting til our careers reach some solid point. Plus don't rush too fast to grow up, you will regret it in the long run, enjoy the time you have now without having to worry about all the responsibilities of being an adult.

Oh my gosh you sound just like me! lol I dated this guy that i was deeply and honestly in love with and he was with me. We were together for 3 years and could not wait to get married. Right before i turned 18 this started to change, he didn't answer the phone as much and when he was at my house he spent more time with my dad than me and when he was with me he seemed absent. Long story short, we broke up. And belive me, if you told me on this dated 1 year ago that we would not be together i would have laughed in your face. i KNEW that i KNEW that i KNEW that we were gonna be together forever. He was like my constant, if no one ever liked me or if i fought with my parents, or if i got all old and fat and ugly he was always gonna be there, but you know what ... he wasn't. He now is a drunk and is practicly liveing with his new girlfriend. I on the other hand and not a drunk and i have a wonderful new boyfriend that i couldnt have dreamed up.I know your probably thinking, "oh, but we are different, this is us were talking about here." cause i said that to about a million people. i guess what i am saying is if you love them enough to spend forever, love them enough to wait another year or two.
