Dear littlhea,

The phrase let go and let God is not one that is found in the Bible and what Christ teaches. i think when people say that- they are encouraging you to trust God with whatever things are heavy on your heart (i think that's what is meant by let go). If you have a personal relationship with God than you know that you do not need to hold on to all your anxities and worries (God's word tells us cast your burdens upon him because he cares for you. Pray in all circumstances.)

It's a reminder that sometimes in life there are things that occur that are so overwhelming or are so much larger than ourselves- and we really need God's help to deal with those things with a healthy perspective.

The danger with the: Let Go and Let God is that it suggests that there is nothing we can do. i think we have to depend on God but also work at things as well.

IE: If you were unemployed and needed a job. We can't just say- just pray (Let go and let God) but we're lazy to submit resumes and etc. At the same time we can get overwhelmed and say i did this and that- and what's God doing? And we also need to pray and ask God for his help.

i hope that clears up any misunderstanding. Hope that helps.

Kindly,

Nickster

This is a tough one...much easier said then done. When we have done everything in our power....every thing we can do, then it's time to give it to God. When we hang on to something that we should be giving to God what we are saying to God is, "I don't trust you to handle this.....I don't think you are capable of handling this." But the thing is that God will not handle it so long as we are holding on to it. He's waiting for you to give whatever it is up to him. Who knows, what ever the problem is, it may have been solved a long time ago if you had only trusted in God to handle it. While we can only work on a problem for little periods at a time God can work on it 24x7. God never has to sleep or eat or do laundry or grocery shopping, never has to study for a test or get home work done. And he knows way before hand what is coming your way and he already has a plan for exactly what he's going to do about it. The only thing holding up the works is YOU. You haven't given it to him. Now, you might have to give it to him and keep giving it to him because us humans tend to pick stuff right back up after we've given it to God. But every time you are tempted to do that just re-dedicate that thing to God again. The devil wants nothing more then for you to waste your life trying to fix things and control things you really have no control over. Leave it to God and go on with your life and do what you can to be a blessing to others. And trust God to handle it. WAIT ON THE LORD his timing is PERFECT.

God bless you. This is probably one of the hardest things for most of us to do. I know it is for me. I suddenly seize up with fear about what it might mean to step aside and let God take control. What might He require of me? What might I have to sacrifice? What changes would need to happen?

In a way it's one of the silliest things to ponder because would God ever lead me to harm? Do I have anything to ever worry about with Him? Then why do I hold back?

I go through these questions all the time. God is patient, thankfully.

Go to Him in prayer and ask Him to be your guide, your teacher. He knows when you're ready, and He'll never let you fall, but if you do, He'll pick you up again.

God bless, and take care.

You have to fully trust Him. To do that, you have to know He is worthy. That comes by studying His word and seeing it proven true time and time again. This is how trust in God is developed. You then give over the problem to Him and know that, no matter what, it is in His keeping and you no longer have to worry about it. Then you go on about your life. If you notice you are once again worrying about it, you come before Him in prayer, and say, Lord, I'm thinking about this again, please help me trust you with the outcome of this situation. The more you study His word and live His word, the more you see that He truly is a God of His word, you will be able to "let go" and leave everything in His good keeping.

Dear littleheadcat, Jesus tells us in the Bible, that faith the size of a musterd sead, can mve mountains. The best way we can "let goand let God". is to pray to HIm to hpl us in our circumnsatnces and then actively trust him and let him take control and guide. when it came to a forke in the Road in my Life, I saw myself in the Light of Gods law (ten Commandments), I realized I had sinned against him by lying and stealing and blapshemny, I had to ake a decision, either repent (turn from sin) and trust the savior, or be eternally lost and forever sperated from God in hell. The Moment I repented toward God and trusted Jesus, I was soundly saved. Now, the reason I told you that, is to make this point. if we can trust christ with our eternal souls, whay would we trust him with our life circumnstances? Christ has defeated our worst enemy, death, and if he has done that, he also promises to never leave us or forsake us. we must trust in Him, leave the burdens at his feet.
God Bless

Matt. 11: 28-30

Christ is our perpetual Sabbath, our rest. By resting in Him we obey the commandment to remember the Sabbath. At the end of the day completely let go of all your burdens in prayer and actively trust your Father. Your concerns, your words about your concerns, your analysis about your concerns, your regrets about your actions or inaction, everything.

Thanking Him for loving you and watching over you, not with words but with simple certainty.

Then sleep in His bosom.

Quit worrying. Rest in the awareness that God can and will do a better job of running your life than you can, after all he is causing you heart to beat and your brain to work. Do what is before you to do, dedicating all actions in thought, word, and deed to the service of God and all that he created. accept all Good desires as his will.

Peace!
Sometimes there are things we cannot do anything about. For example, I have a life-threatening disease. Apart from the medications I take, there is nothing more I can do about it. So I turn over my health condition to God and accept whatever answer he gives me.
God bless

Surrender. Give up. Stop. Quit. Relax. It's done. It's over.

Now. Give your life to GOD and let him have it long enough to fix it. After he gets it working and returns it to you then ask yourself. "What is the right thing to do?" about everything. That should keep you real close to the Will of GOD. Pray and rejoice. You are on your way to Heaven.

That phrase is a simplistic catch phrase that really has only limited application to our daily life. On the one hand it is God who works all things together for good and who is in the process of making us more like Jesus. On the other hand, we are called to do our part in that process. People don't just "luck out" and never fall into sin or grow in their faith. My Pastor refers to that attitude as "silver-platter-ology" where we just kick back and God does all the work for us.

You can "let go and let God" when you realize that you have to abide in Christ in order to accomplish anything worthwhile here on earth. You "let go" of trying to accomplish everything on your own strength and according to your own wisdom. You "let God" when you walk in the light of his truth and seek Him in prayer and trust in Him to do what He promises that He will do.
