Well I have to vote for April but mostly because that is when I got married. It was just last year and we couldn't have asked for more beautiful weather...that was here in Illinois.
I have to say though that both of my sisters got married in September and they had beautiful weather too!
One other thing if you think you need more time to plan you could choose September that would give you a few extra months :)

April would be be springy and not too warm where as Sept will probably still be boiling hot until the middle. April is also a very popular month for weddings so if you were thinking about that, you need to get hopping.People may already have stuff booked up.

both are beautiful months. If you pick April choose mid month(better weather) Every thing is new and fresh as the life you are planning together.
Sept. is the beginning of fall(pick mid same reasons) Again you are at the start of a new season and the air has a freshness in it as does your new life your planning.
Which ever you pick be sure to enjoy the day and each other. Congratulations and best of wishes for a long happy life together.

April Showers or Autumn Flowers? Does either of these months have significant value over the other. Will your wedding be held outside? Check previous weather conditions for both months in the last two years, although this doesn't gurantee any better weather, but at least you will have a clue. Best of Luck!

September no doubt. Fall in New England is beautiful (I'm in Maine and was married in Sept.) plus the weather is great. April usually means lots of rain and mud, something you want to avoid with a dress.

Personally, I would pick the month based on one thing-your anniversary. The wedding will be fantastic regardless of which month you choose, however, your wedding IS ONLY ONE DAY. You will be celebrating that date for years to come and you'll probably want to decide which month the two of you like better for that reason.
If you decide to celebrate with a vacation every year, will you be celebrating during off-peak season for good discounts? If you can't afford to take a vacation every year for your anniversary, would you rather celebrate locally during an April rainstorm or a crisp September evening? Hmmm....
I would consider the month you both prefer based on which season the two of you enjoy the most.
Just another perspective, I guess....
Good luck!
