First, we have a representative form of government. What this means is that we elect someone in order that we not have to take straw polls all the time. Looking back, many events, especially wars, were very unpopular at the time they took place. The Revolutionary War is the best example imaginable. Only one third of early Americans supported it, and we were up against the most powerful military in the world. We had no money. Franklin, I think, had to go to France to borrow money for our fight. Had we these same cynics such as Ted Kennedy and Murtha and Pelosi, they would have demanded that the brave soldiers at Valley Forge give up. "You can't win" they'd have said. We lost 1% of our population in the Revolutionary War. We've lost .001% of our population in the Iraq War.
We must stand fast and finish what we started.
Hussein was horribly evil and murdered five to seven million people. He would be doing so today had we not intervened with the full support of Congress and 68% of Americans when we invaded.

What do you think is going to happen if we just leave right now? Sure, no more Americans will die in the immediate future, but what about all the Iraqis we just screwed over by jumping ship? The little amount of freedom they have will be taken away. And what about when Iran has control of the Middle East and World War III begins? How many Americans will die then just because we wanted to pull out of Iraq a little earlier? A lot more than 3,000 that's for sure. If we pull out now those 3,000 people will have died for nothing.
We love and support the troops because they risk their lives for us. That's what they are doing FOR US.

The reason that we have the commander in chief and government is because the people CANNOT make these decisions. It is of course a tragedy when a soldier dies, but he or she makes their decision to go into battle knowingly and on their own...and unfortunately, wars cannot be fought and definitely cannot be won without casualties. Obviously you have forgotten about the 3,000 mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, sons and daughters that were lost within 2 HOURS just 5 years ago. What about them? There are more people killed each year by cars than U.S. soldiers that die in Iraq. Do you want to outlaw cars now? We have to fight this war to win. Thank God we have a President like George Bush who can do what he knows is right when all of those surrounding him are blinded by fear, ignorance, and poll numbers.

Because the Democrats know just how bad things will get if we left Iraq before the Iraqi people were capable of defending themselves.
They have boxed themselves into a corner and are hoping that we win in Iraq just in time for them to claim that they won the war for us.
The fact of the matter is that people are starting to realize the consequences if the military in Iraq are not allowed to win.
I am just so glad that my son will have completed his service by the time that the Democrats policies result in the logical result. The next war will make this one look like a picnic - I say that we let the Democrats fight it.

yeah lots of us think the politicians are representing our interests, and something like this makes one try to change something in congress or the house, and you are forced to realize that those politicians almost always ignore the public unless it helps that politician out some how.

Sorry, but they are NOT "for the people." They ARE for lobbyists that line their pockets with money and perks.
All those deaths = more gun sales. And that makes more money for the lobbyists to give the politicians.

This is why we need to vote for the next president based solely on if they want to pull the troops out! Honestly I don't care about taxes or anything else right about now...but the one person who says that they will pull our troops out will get my vote!
