Which is the best watch/guard dog, but still managable and friendly of these three:
German Pincher
Great Dane
Rottweiler
We would like two dogs to watch over our place of business at night and in the day they would be home with the family as beloved pets. Must be good with children and cats.
Suggestions? Personal experience?

WOW!!! Such great answers! Thank you all! The reason I picked these 3 is because I know they can make good pets, plus good working dogs. Also, their looks alone can be enough to deter any thief.
I did think about a shepherd, but they are so cute. lol. I dont know if they look scary enough to keep anyone away. Well, maybe. :)
Well I guess Im looking at the rottie or the pincher (doberman or german, I dont know yet. Ill do more research).
I would like two dogs so that at night they will have a companion. Would it be bad to put a rottie and a picher together? Or is it better to get two of the same breed?
Also if you all have any more ideas keep'em comin'! THANKS SOOOOO MUCH! You all are fabulous!!!!

Rotties are great all around dogs, and if a robber sees them they will definitely think twice about robbing you.
Your main concern should be a properly trained dog, more so than breed of dog.
I personally have Pitbulls for protection of business( we have a bike shop) and for home. But I have raised Pitbulls my entire life, and this is my breed of choice, I am not recommending the breed to you. The main thing is any properly trained dog will do

I have owned Doberman's and a Rottweiler. The Great Dane is a total baby and pussycat and won't be watching a thing. Between Dobe's and Rott's I found the Dobe's to get along better with people and pets and children. Rott's are definitely a fabulous guard dog, but make no mistake, they are not joking when they say a Rott needs to have an owner smarter than they are...it is the truth. They need careful training and socialization for a minimum of the first 2 years of life. I would say they can both be excellent with children if trained properly, however, neither understands how large they are or how much they weigh, so inadvertently knocking down a child is not out of the question.

Well a german shepherd is a great dog, but they have thick coats and shouldn't be left outside in the heat, so I would go with the Rotty or the Doby. Rotties and Dobies make really good guard dogs but, like all untrained dogs, they can and will attack if they feel threatened or think you are being threatened. So my first piece of advice is to adopt an already trained adult or get a puppy and take it to obedience classes and have a proper trainer teach you how to train it to be a watch dog and not an attack dog. For some reason a lot of people associate Dobies as being more vicious than Rotties (probably because a lot of people turn the Rotties into these big hams who lick you to death) If you don't want to deal with a lot of drool, go with the Doby.

German pincher and Great dean is not a guard dog. Rotties and Dobermann are.
Dobermann and Rotties are not good for out door guard in cold weathers. They have short hairs that stick in the carpet indoor. If you have warehouse that dog hair won't damage your business, or you are in warm weather for all season, than these are a great breeds.
For our door guard in cold weather, you might looking for Belgian malinois, German Sheppard, giant Schnauzer, and bouvier. They can handle weathers better. For indoor, Giant Schnauzer and Bouvier are clean dogs without hair problem.
All these dogs are good with kids and cats. You just have to find good working dog. each individual dog is different instead of breed. There are no one breed which is good with kid and cat.
For the price, If all dogs are same quality, Belgian malinois and German Sheppard are cheaper. then rottie, dobermann, and bouvier and giant schnauzer are most expensive.
It's because there are more working quality GSD and Malinois than Bouvier and giants. It's nothing to do with one dog is better than others.
Many jurisdiction have regulation on guard dogs. Some county won't let you have them. many county require to put signs on the promise and so on. Please check your local government before you invest.

Doberman or a Sheppard!!! They are great in both areas, home and business, Make sure they get lots of love at home always include them in all family things and nothing but serious business at work, Keep them away from all contact but family and close friends when at home and business. I don't let anyone pet my puppies when training them for a secure type job. Only family and friends. Puppies are cute and everyone wants to pet them. NO!! And you will have a great thing with your dogs, lots of love and care at home, They will do fine!!

Rottie-hands down, but you must have from puppy to be good with kids. They are EXCELLENT watch dogs. Mine usually sleeps during the day, and stays awake all night. Sometimes if he hears a noise, he will bark ( distinctive Rottie bark) to let you know that he thinks something is wrong. Rottweilers are very loyal dogs & will give their lives to protect their owners. Thank God mine will never be put to that test!

Some breeds I recommend are Rottweilers, German sheperds, and Black Mouth Curs. We used to have a Rottie before she passed away. They are great family dogs, guard dogs, and excellent with kids.

A great dane would rather play with strangers than guard against them. They also don't tend to bark as much to ward off intruders. A rottweiler would be great for the kids and cats, but also may not bark at intruders, they'd rather silently come up behind them once already in the building. The pincher will let its presence be known, but may not be so good with cats and kids unless you socialize them well.

Don't listen to these other people. Rotties are sometimes very protective of space and sometimes they are not. What i do know is that there is no better family dog in my mind than a rottweiler. There are more golden retriever bites in America than rottweilers. If you were ever in need of protection a rottweiler would defend you to the death.

Check with your home owners insurance before getting a Rott or Pinscher or any of the mixes- a lot of them will cancel your policy if you have a dangerous breed- which these types of dogs are- if not trained correctly.
you may want to check into Terriers- but they are a handle full! Same as above- they muct be trained right!
